Kaitlin O’toole
During our time spent with Kaitlin, she shared some amazing lessons for both business and personal life. Here are some of the top takeaways:
Mind Games
In our initial interview with Kaitlin, she explained how the mind is a set of programs. It's essentially a computer system and who you are is what your parents, institutions, and structures taught you. If you don't like your situation, it's up to you to fix that virus in your system and rewire your mind.
In her work with Sports Illustrated, Kaitlin learned that many of today's top athletes practice meditation and mental rehearsal. Kobe believed every shot he took was going into the net. Once you program yourself to win, you can only win.
Awake in the Dream
Kaitlin believes that the key to self awareness is being able to see yourself in the future. Maintaining your thoughts in the present moment and "staying awake in the dream" helps you stay connected with the intention of the life you're creating.
Our brains pick up so much information. If we're not telling it what to look for, it won't recognize the opportunities to get you to the next level, even if they're right in front of you. Staying present and becoming who you want to be in the here and now helps you identify those opportunities so much faster.
Get Visionary
Maintaining motivation over the long haul when you have big goals isn't always easy. Kaitlin says using vision boards to bring dreams to life is a game changer. When you find yourself losing steam, a vision board helps you show your brain the life you're creating.
When you can see a visual representation of your goals and dreams, you stay motivated to do whatever it takes to get there. Kaitlin says a lot of motivation stops when we forget what we're creating. Getting your vision out of your mind and into the physical keeps you going.
Give Yourself Grace
When working to overcome our past mistakes and shortcomings, Kaitlin advises us all to forgive ourselves. In each moment, we're operating at our best with what we know at the time. If we knew things would ultimately be different, we'd choose differently. Through forgiving ourselves, we find grace.
On top of forgiveness, Kaitlin also says we should be proud of ourselves for trying. So many people sit around in regret, but trying is the only way we truly learn. We're on this planet to experience a beautiful life. When you try, you prove you aren't afraid to live.
